◎简　　介

　　1782年，光太夫等人出海不幸遭难，经过九个月的漂流，到达了俄罗斯的堪察加半岛。幸存下来的6名日本人努力寻找返乡的方法，却在西伯利亚的严寒中屡屡受挫。因为冻伤而被截去一条腿的庄藏成了天主教徒，年轻的新藏和俄罗斯女子尼娜相爱两人私奔而去。而光太夫在学者拉克斯曼的帮助下，了解了俄罗斯的辉煌文化，他想将这份强烈的冲击传达给故国的人们，因而更坚定了返乡的意愿。光太郎来到首都彼得堡，在几个贵族的帮助下，成功地见到了叶卡捷林娜二世。十年后，光太夫和小市、矶吉三人终于回到了日本，然而实行闭关锁国政策的故国却并不欢迎历经千辛万苦归来的他们……
